After looking at 25 different sports drama film titles I have conclude a variety of similarities for example every single one of them is snappy and many indicate what the film is going to be about eg: The Karate Kid, a movie about a young kid who finds the combat sport of karate applies for a tournament were he is the heavy underdog however beats the odds and wins, Coach Carter a film about a failing basketball team in desperate need of a turn around. They're new coach Carter teaches them discipline and the game of basketball to make them improve in ways they never thought they could.

Another common thing found in the name of sports dramas would be the name of the main protagonist, this is done due to film wanting to make you feel close with the character. For example rocky a movie were we see the journey of a small town boxer in Philadelphia given the opportunity of a lifetime as he is offered to fight the champion of the world. The odds are not in his favour but the audience goes with him on a journey and watch him grow as a person and a boxer to eventually upset the champion and take the belt. A different movie about the sport of football called Gracie. Gracie a young girl who tragically looses her bother, in his honour she asks the coach to take his spot in the football team however the movie is set in 1978 were she has to fit into the normal stereotypes of a girl  however she trains to prove the doubters and coaches wrong about her not being tuff enough to play the sport.

Most of the movies also give a fence to what sport the film is going to be about due to the film revolving around a certain sport eg southpaw and The Wrestler. Southpaw is a movie about a boxer who was on his way to a title fight against the champion however tragedy sticks as his wife is shot in a scuffle, we watch him spiral into an alcohol and drug induce depression but to come back after a long lay off and fight the champion. We know southpaw is about boxing due to southpaw being a reference to a boxing stance as most people fight orthodox as their fight hand is their power hand however southpaw is usually used by left handed people and allows for a more defence stance. This is narratively appropriate due to him taking extreme amounts of damage which changed up by the new stance he had adopted. The movie wrestler states the subject matter of the movie in the name, wrestling.

Sporting dramas tend to be aggressive films, movies that take us on emotional rides and usually consist of a couple hard sporting sense therefor found on every single one of these titles is the use of sans serif, which creates a more hard and powerful text for the title
