Sports Drama - Famous Movies From This Genre
In this post I shall be looking into different types of famous Sports Dramas and will be looking at similar conventions that they all integrate into their movie.
The first Sports Drama I will be looking at is the"Rocky"staring Sylvester Stallone as a journey man boxer, who hasn't had the greatest success in his career however he gets the opportunity to fight for the heavyweight title. He meets with ageing former boxing champion "Mickey Mighty Mick Gold mill" who becomes his mentor and coach although having a rocky friendship. the movie mixes in romance with his love interest Adrian Pennino. The fight happens with the massive under dog, Rocky gets in the ring with the raining champ Apollo Creed. He shocks the wold knocking out the champ. Rocky is he typical Underdog drama.
The Second Sports Drama I will be looking at is South Paw a movie realised fairly recently (2015) staring Jake Gyllenhaal. Billy "the Great" Hope is an undefeated Boxer, who has a clash against another top tier Darius Jones. They fight with Billy winning however his fighting styles leads to him taking massive amounts of damage. After the fight a young up and coming boxer, Miguel "Magic" Escobar set up a fight with Billy. They both meet at a fundraiser were a confrontation occures were Billys wife and love interest in the movie "Maureen" is shot by one of Billys friends, she eventually dies. This is used as the catalyst to his comeback as his life goes spiralling out of control, with him abusing drugs and alcohol and also him loosing custody of his child. His Life is at the lowest of lows however we watch him slowly crawl his way back to the title and a massive comeback fight. This is only possible due to him meeting former boxer Tick Wills who becomes his mentor in the movie, this leads to him changing his once reckless fighting, into a counter puncher. He has high fight with Miguel with an extremely close fight braking out, which showed him loosing the early founds but then makes a come back to win the fight.
The Third sports drama I will be looking at is "The Blind Side" based on a true story, staring Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron. The movie revolves around a teenager who doesn't have a stabble home and keeps running away from where ever he has been given a home, He is then adopted by a Leigh Anne Tuohy and brought into a caucasian House hold. The summery of the movie is She takes care of him like her own son and from this he finds his passion and natural talent as football. Which he eventually becomes so good at he makes the NFL.
